Welcome to the Persuasive Systems Design MOOC course!
Have you ever stopped to think about how information technology affects how you act in your everyday life? This course reveals ways in which technologies influence our attitudes and behavior. The course will change the way how you think about information technology. Moreover, it will give you a new powerful tool for your digital competence toolbox.
Course content
The course will address how information technology influences us in everyday life. It will explain what persuasion is and what persuasive systems are. The Persuasive Systems Design model is introduced and used as a lens to examine the world of persuasive systems and technology. The model reveals ways in which technologies influence our attitudes and behavior. The course will prepare for the process of designing, developing, evaluating, and researching persuasive systems.
Attending the course
The course is accessible to all individuals at no cost. It is structured into multiple sections, encompassing a diverse range of learning tasks designed to reinforce fundamental concepts, deepen understanding, and provide practical examples from real-life scenarios. The course implementation will remain open until July 31, 2023. The Persuasive System Design MOOC welcomes individuals with various interests and does not require any prior knowledge of the subject.
How to join the course

- As a Finnish higher education student, you can use HAKA to log in.
- As a University of Oulu degree student, you should log in with HAKA.
Study attainments and the course certification
Once you have completed the course, you can apply for credits, credits are provided free of charge. This course is worth two credits (2 ECTS).
If you are not a degree student at the University of Oulu, you can register as an open university student after completing the course. Details of this process will be provided at the end of the course.
As a degree student at the University of Oulu, you will get credits through Peppi. Please enroll on the course in Peppi only after you have completed it in DigiCampus. Study credits will be recorded in Peppi once a month.
