The course studies the circular economy as an overarching societal change. The course provides an overview of the social, political and legal preconditions and impacts of moving to a circular economy. The social scientific, multidisciplinary course is part of the intermediate studies in environmental policy and in human geography. The different sections of the course examine the transformational goals associated with the circular economy from the perspective of different actors, industries, social responsibility and legislation.

The scope of the open MOOC course is 3 ECTS. The scope of the course offered for UEF students is 5 credit points. The perspective of the course is social scientific, but everyone is welcome, regardless of their previous educational background. The course does not require any previous knowledge of the circular economy.
