The course provides a critical and research-informed introduction to emerging digital technologies—particularly artificial intelligence, generative AI, and extended realities—and their implications for learning, work, and organisational practices. Rather than treating technologies as neutral tools, the course examines them as socio-technical systems that shape cognition, behaviour, professional roles, and institutional decision-making. Drawing on perspectives from learning sciences, educational technology, and information systems, participants develop analytical skills to evaluate human–AI collaboration, regulation of learning and work, ethical and epistemic trust, and organisational change. The course is designed for students, educators, and professionals seeking to build AI and technology literacy grounded in theory, empirical research, and real-world cases across education and business contexts. Emerging Technologies in Education and Business is an open MOOC offered by University of Oulu and led by Andy Nguyen.
