Entry requirements and target group: 

• Basic knowledge in biosciences (120 sp of BSc studies)
• 3rd-year BSc students and MSc students

Learning outcomes: 

After passing this course, the students are expected to:

• be familiar with the concepts of entrepreneurship and innovation within the bioscience, biomedicine, and pharmaceutical fields
• have obtained a practical view of the steps from initial innovation idea to launching the final product
• have a better understanding of the skills required for working life in the industry
• have developed your ability to apply theoretical knowledge to problem-solving
• have developed your project management skills

Contents: 

This course covers the following topics: 

1. Introduction to innovation
2. Defining a problem
3. Idea generation
4. Idea conceptualization and testing
5. Pitching
6. Commercialization and strategy development

Modes of study:

Online video lectures, written material, self-correcting quizzes, group work, oral presentation (pitch), and written project report

Teaching language: English

Evaluation and evaluation criteria: Grade (1-5) consists of approved self-correcting quizzes (30%), pitch videos (50%), and the final project report (20%). Self-correcting quizzes are approved if 60 % or more is correct.
