Course title: Business models for circularity and on demand production

Learning methods and duration: Lectures – 10 hours; Exercises/Laboratory works Individual study/ Project Works (seminar) – 15 hours; video experience – 2 hours; final exam – 1 hours. Total: 25 hours.

Assessment methods: 

  • Initial assesment (quiz): to check how much participants already know about sustainability, circular economy and bussines model, esspecially in the field of digital textile printing. 
  • Formative assessment: Short online quizzes on  CE concepts and product life extension, on-demand production, digital technologies like blockchain, IoT, AI; about the environmental benefits. Group work would be based on mini-workshop on simplified bussiness mofel canvas for circular fashion brand using digital printing and on-demans production, or similar. 
  • Summative assessment: project based + small final quiz + short presentation/report. A task for project on circular and on-demand business concept for a digitally printed products. Deliverables should be a short written report and short presentation. 

General objective: The learner will be introduced to:

  • The principles of the circular economy and on-demand production in the textile and fashion industry, and how digital textile printing can support the transition from linear to circular value chains.
  • Key circular business strategies, such as product life extension, recycling and upcycling, material innovation, sharing and rental models, and take-back programmes, and with digital platforms for traceability based on blockchain, IoT and AI.
  • Sustainable business models that integrate circular practices and on-demand, digitally printed production, with a focus on improving transparency, reducing waste, increasing resource efficiency and supporting more sustainable consumption patterns.
