Part of pathway / module: Color management in eco-design / Advanced color management

EQF level: 6

ECTS credits: 1

Learning methods and duration: Approximately 25 hours (5 hours e-learning inc. video experience, 2 hours face-to-face, 16 hours work-based learning, 2 hours assesment)

Assessment methods:

  • Initial assesment (quiz)
  • Formative assessment (quizzes, group works and activities)
  • Summative assessment (projects and assignments)

General objective: The learner will be introduced to:
•    Introduce the evolution from visual to instrumental color measurement.
•    Explain the principles of digital color measurement, including standard observers, illuminants, and geometry.
•    Explore advanced color data processing, color difference models, and color order systems.

·         Comprehend the CIE system, its principles, extensions, and practical applications.

·         Recognize advanced color difference models and objective methods for quantifying perceptual differences.

·         Understand color order systems and digital color-coding methodologies (HSV, HLC, HEX, RGB).

 Skills

After the completion of this module, learners will be able to:

·         Quantify color using spectrophotometers and other digital tools.

·         Apply appropriate methodologies for defining acceptable color tolerances.

·         Analyze color data using QC software and objective measurement systems.

·         Describe and classify color using objective color order systems.

Competences

After the completion of this module, learners will:

·         Objectively measure and communicate color across the supply chain.

·         Apply the appropriate CIE system, illuminants, and devices to achieve accurate and consistent color.

·         Optimize color workflows, reduce errors, and support sustainability in production.
