Micro-credential: Quality assessment of color reproduction

Part of pathway / module: Color management in eco-design / Advanced Color Management

EQF level: 6

ECTS credits: 1

Learning methods and duration:

Lectures – 10 hours; Exercises/Laboratory works Individual study/ Project Works (seminar) – 12 hours; video experience – 2 hours; final exam – 1 hours. Total: 25 hours

Assessment methods:

  • Initial assessment (quiz): to see their basic knowledge of color spaces, ΔE, standards, instruments.
  • Formative assessment: Shot online quizzes on objectives and workflows of colour QC; instruments and software; levels of colour reproduction quality.
  • Summative assessment: project assignment of realistic colour Quality control, on which they will structure a technical report.

General objective: The learner will be introduced to:

  • Effective colour quality control workflow that ensures accurate, consistent and sustainable colour reproduction on textile materials
  • Colour quality control objectives and requirements
  • Methodology how to select appropriate method and technology and apply suitable procedure for different colourants and substrates.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

After the completion of this module, learners will:
•    Know how to define objectives and requirements for colour reproduction quality control within the structured workflow
•    Understand the principles, purpose and significance of colour quality control in TCLF
•    Understand the role of measurement instruments, software and data management in evaluating and documenting performance.

Skills

After the completion of this module, learners will be able to:
•    Apply proper operating procedures for colour quality control
•    Evaluate and interpret the results of colour quality control (e.g. ∆E values, pass/fail decisions, trends in production data) and relate them to a specific requirements
•    conduct an analysis of possible causes of errors in color reproduction based on the results of objective color evaluation

Competences

After the completion of this module, learners will:
•    contribute in establishing and effective colour quality control programme in a textile/dyeing printing anvironment
•    Measure, control and communicate colour in ways to improve production workflows, reduce waste and support sustainability
•    Select and justifiy the use of appropriate CIE colour system, illuminants and devices to achieve accirate and consistent colour during production runs.
