General objective: The learner will be introduced to:
•    The creative and technical skills necessary to transform old garments into new products through structured design processes, including idea development, sketching, planning, and garment redesign techniques.
•    The responsible and innovative thinking by encouraging learners to apply eco-design principles, assess ethical implications in garment production, and create practical solutions that extend product lifespan and reduce waste in the fashion sector.
•    The understanding of sustainable fashion principles, with a focus on the environmental impact of textile waste and the role of upcycling in supporting circular economy models.

Knowledge

After the completion of this module, learners will:
•    understand the key principles of upcycling and its role within sustainable and circular fashion systems.
•    know different methods, tools, and techniques used to transform old garments into new functional or creative products.
•    be familiar with the environmental, social, and ethical implications related to textile waste and garment redesign.

Skills

After the completion of this module, learners will be able to:
•    apply upcycling and redesign techniques to transform existing garments into new products using appropriate tools and technologies.
•    analyse textile materials and select suitable components for creative and functional reuse
•    document and present the redesign process through sketches, technical descriptions, and visual communication tools

Competences

After the completion of this module, learners will:
•    independently plan and execute an upcycling project from concept to final prototype.
•    make informed decisions that consider environmental impact, material efficiency, and product longevity.
•    collaborate effectively within a design or production team to develop innovative circular fashion solutions.
