Learning methods and duration: Approximately 25 hours independent online self-studies, including materials, videos, quizzes and tests.

General objective: The learner will be introduced to:

  • Principles of redesign, reducing waste, and extending the lifecycle of materials.

  • Learning about zero-waste garment cutting methods in the industry and boutiques.

  • An innovative approach that minimizes fabric waste and promotes sustainability in fashion.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge 

After the completion of this module, learners will: 

  • Explain the meaning and advantages of zero waste design in fashion.  
  • Describe the difference between craftsman and industrial clothing construction.
  • Recognize cutting techniques that minimize fabric waste. 

Skills 

After the completion of this module, learners will be able to: 

  • Develop a clothing item using slow fashion principles.
  • Analyze textile materials and cutting limitations.
  • Apply patterns that maximize material usage. 

Competences 

After the completion of this module, learners will: 

  • Execute zero waste design principles in clothing creation.
  • Demonstrate zero waste construction of clothing item.  
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of patterns in terms of sustainability.
