Kurssin kuvaus

This course in not giving you the competence  to work with laboratory animals, but provides the main theoretical background for it.

The modules and expected time to be spend for the module:

Core modules

1. National legislation - 2 h

2. Ethics, animal welfare and the Three Rs (level 1) - 2 h

3.1. Basic and appropriate biology – species specific (theory) - 3 h

4. Animal care, health, and management – species specific (theory) - 8 h

5. Recognition of pain, suffering and distress - species specific - 2,5 h

6.1. Humane methods of killing (theory) - 1,5 h

Function A - Specific Modules

7. Minimally invasive procedures without anaesthesia – species specific (theory) - 1,5 h

Additional Task Specific Modules

As bonus there is one Module from Function B

10. Design of procedures and projects (level 1) - 3 h

50. Local module - up to 30 min - voluntary, not needed for exam
