NURSE EDUCATION RESEARCH, 4 ETCS
Course dates; Seminar days 28.-29.4.2026 at University of Turku. In addition, web-based learning environment Moodle will open 2.3.2026.
Aims:
Learning outcomes: a student
1) knows the approaches of different areas/topics in the field of nursing education research,
2) can utilize the modern research methods in nursing education research,
3) can evaluate critically the nursing education research
4) chooses a theme within nursing education research for deeper review with critical reflection,
5) can apply the chosen theme into her / his own study or investigate and analyse how the theme has been applied in scientific nursing literature previously, and
6) has increased her / his knowledge towards scientific writing.
Learning methods: Specialist lectures, independent readings, online videos and lectures, online discussions written assignment and seminars

Literature: The list of references will be available before the course in the Digicampus
Outcomes and evaluation: After the course students should be acquainted with main themes in nursing education research:
1) aware of different theoretical and clinical nursing education research contents,
2) able to apply the knowledge obtained about scientific writing
The course will be assessed in scale: passed / failed. Students evaluate the course according to the evaluation form of the Finnish Doctoral Education Network in Nursing Science.
The Nurse Education Research course consists of three modules:
Module 1: Online learning (consist of 4 tasks 2.3.-31.3.26)
Module 2: Written assignment (DL 12.4.26) and presentations in the seminar day 29.4.2026. Two seminar days with a hybrid implementation: (Seminar days 28. - 29.4.26)
Module 3: Two seminar days with a hybrid implementation: (Seminar days 28. - 29.4.2026)
Two seminar days with a hybrid implementation: (Seminar days 28.–29.4.26)
including lectures of the methodological issues and overview in nursing education research and seminar discussions (see the appendix 1, The Course Program).
